Another Food Post

Just want to do a quick food review on this restaurant we ate during the holidays. Its called Siu Siu Restaurant and its located along the Old Airport Road. Its funny looking signboard with crab and prawns all lighted up is a prominent sign.

We went there with a couple of friends to have dinner and were surprised that the crowd was so so since its a highly recommended place by both hubby and friend. This restaurant was originally located somewhere near the Tean Hou Temple (on the way to this temple) but was moved to this place sometime early this year.

Environment wise I'd say this place is comfy. The high ceiling fan and spacious sitting tables and chairs. Lots of luscious tress and they also have their very own fish tank (very huge) which Oscar insist of going there to snap pics (lazy so I didnt upload). We ordered the Free-Range Chicken cooked ala Yim-Kuk-Kai. Tasted ok but quite bland. The chicken is fresh but since its supposed to be Yim-Kuk-Kai, it should at least tasted like one! Then, we had the Kam-Heong Juk Tann, tasted heaven! So so highly recommended but just remember to ask the chef to lower the salt if you dont like salty food... We also ordered their seafood tofu clay pot which is a very normal dish; yumm too. Another heaven dish is the Guiness Stout pork ribs. The taste of the ribs with hot piping white rice is so so yummy. The ribs are deep fried till perfection and then tossed in some very yummy sauce - Lip Smacking! The steam fish was the most expansive dish I think but it didnt lived up to its price cos the portion was a little bit small. Taste wise, I'd say good.... not excellent. We also ordered their famous Spinach Soup (I whacked before any photos was taken!) Overall food rating for this restaurant is 7/10. Could be better, so the next time we visit, we will drop off the kids somewhere (my mom's place la) and eat in peace and this time round, we will order their signature dish; Ham-Dan Crab... The table next to us ordered and the smell is like.... ORGASMIC!!!

The duck that I bought tasted HEAVEN!!! And of course the intended pork chop I made turned out to look like tiny pieces of pork slices.... blueh.... but tasted yummy! Mom made soup, another vege dish and also chicken... so much meat we could feel our self gained an extra 10lbs after this meal! Serious!

* Belated Tung-Jit dinner with 2-BILs at Wenworth Hotel, Janbo Restaurant. Erm, dinner was so so only... the first dish yumm, the sharkfin was like MSG broth, steam chicken tasted weird (some herbal chicken), steam fish tasted ok ler, the prawns I didnt eat so cant comment, the LorHon Chye ok ler, had the lotus wrapped rice, tasted nice but too salty (I like!) and look at these very porn looking buns! Ha ha...

* Made Stir-Fried Noodles on Boxing Day. Taste wise ok ler, not as good as mom's cos I dont know what did I missed in the recipe... somehow tarak oomph! Made Sharkfin Melon soup too to go with the noodles. One bowl with lots of melon and the other lots of pork ribs and bones for hubby! Burrpp! Solly...

I Love Weekends

I just love weekends. Not only that I get to spend time with Oscar, I get to do things which I can't do during weekdays... like meeting up with friends.. Met up with Jazz, Annie, Sasha, Alice and Esther. Everybody was very lovely and the kids was really cute... you can check out here for more photo...
AND HERE

On Sunday, we head to Serdang for lunch and after lunch, we head to Jusco at Equine Park. Yes, its our second time there and its also classified as one of our eat-full-nothing-to-do trip... but lunch was reeeeeaaaaalllllyyyy gooooood... We had Yong Tau Foo at the famous Leong Ya Restaurant in Serdang (you may want to contact blogger Tracy for the location-hehe). The signature dish; paper wrapped chicken tasted extra yummy-li-cious as the gravy is very tasty and also nice to eat with rice. Oscar loved the gravy too. We also order the famouse fried sui kow but me busy eating so didnt take picture. When you order their famous sui kow, you will not be dissappointed cos the look of the sui kow is like... as if its pregnant! Huge and full of stuffings and yummm.. We ordered Sang Har Chow Mean and its tasted good too (too oily only) but really good. And of course, the assorted yong tau foo needs no explanation to those who have patroned this place before. Their yong tau foo stuffing are just too generous. We ordered 10-pcs and we couldn't finish... Hubby finnaly stuffed himself till he turned up-side down! So, here are some really good food we had over the weekend.

After lunch and our shopping trip, we head home to zzz to get ready for dinner at my in laws. Nothing special, its just pot luck so I made spaghetti, fruit salad and fried chicken. We had other food like satays, pizza and desserts. Food was good (I cook wan ma, so good lor) and I ate till I can't move.. hehe... Some pics too...
* My youngest niece - Yong Ai Yi
* My eldest BIL with Oscar
* My pretty niece YouYou and Oscar
* My SIL with YouYou and Oscar
* Some dessert (noticed the red jelly, its dragon fruit jelly, yum)

Itu sahaja... sekian terima kasih for visiting my long post...

Jalan Jalan Cari Makan (Round 2)

Yes! Amazing as it is, it has been 1-week since we met with our blogger friends. Wow, time really flies.... And, thankfully, LaundryAmah, suggested we meet our blogger friends o-gain (cos Saturday I will usually rot at home, hubby got Badminton game). But, unfortunately, due to short notice, we only managed to gather Annie. Despite of the shortest notice of this gathering, we managed to gather Annie and her hubby and also got to know a yummy place to have dinner... Look at what we had till we flip!

We had steamboat, but not some 'calang-calang' steamboat; its PORRIDGE STEAMBOAT! This is the first time I hear and ate this kind of unique and yummi-li-cious steamboat. How you eat it? You just 'chuck' all the stuff into the hot pot of porridge... wait till it goes 'brup-brup' (boil-la) then .... DIG IN! We dig in even before it boils... so hungry la... then, I noticed they served Chinese Tea in this "chi sar char woo*.. very unique. We only use this kind of tea pot at home but in restaurant, this is the first time.

LaundryAmah brought both her wonderful kids along and also LaundryApah. OMG.. Kylie was a little bit hyper (too much zzz wor Amah said). Luckily, Amah brought her maid along so Kylie was manageble. Annie was clever this time, she left Lil Fearless & Cruz at home with the maid... hehe can 'jiak' in peace! I brought my Oscar and also, after me giving 'terra' warning at home, he behaved himself throughout (except for the last 15 mins, running ard like a wild stallion in the restaurant). And, I was very surprised that Annie's hubby is so chatty and friendly. Well, usually we woman will be the one talking and yakking non-stop but, Annie's hubbs was really max yakking and very humourous! Made me and Amah laughing and gave my stomach stiches!

Waliow, this meal was superb cos we all left with a full stomach... and satisfied. Most of all, we had really good company.... Really looking forward to our next gathering.. Hopefully we will be able to gather more bloggers.... (Pssstt, dont ask me for the address of this restaurant ok, cos I only know how to go... but address 'tarak'... Its somewhere in Taman Minang, Cheras)

I cooked Pork!!

If I can escape, I usually don't want to cook pork cos me myself dont eat pork. Me halal-wan... hehe. I still remember two days before the previous Chinese New Year, I went to the market alone to buy some poutry and also to get some pork bones and lean meat for CNY cooking... The moment I walked into the pork section, I felt like vomitting cos of the horrible smell. But, I have to accomplish my mission! But, half way, I beh-tahan liow, I dashed out and throw up at the nearby 'longkang'. Passerby thought this pregnant woman vomitting in the market! Therefore, from that incident onwards, I make sure I ask mom to get pork bones for my soup... I usually go with mom and I will wait far far away and mom will go get it for me... Thanks Mom.

So, after reading Sasha's 'Tidak DiTanggung Halal' post, I decided to make my mom's version of Steam Pork... The result, ok... hubby said its too salty, BUT I LIKE IT! HAHA...

* Boleh ah Sasha-sifu?*

Overall rating: 6.5/10..... the Big King said too salty ma so didnt gip me 8/10 lor....
