Lights Out! Action!

Its really weird to know that sometimes, me and hubby's imagination can be.

Last night was one of those really irritating night we ever had. After work, I left office to go pick up Oscar at my mom's place. Then I head back home to pick up hubby as we planned to go out for dinner in Tmn Maluri. Went for dinner, bought some stuff and left home cos me very sleepy.

Upon us reaching home, we found that the electricity is out. Hubby thought its our fuse box so he tried to take a look but its ok. We thought history is repeating it self cos beginning of this year, our house's main fuse box (at the main electrical hub) was all burnt and melted! Don't know why... Hubby went to check and discovered that the entire fuse box was removed and the wires are cut off. There and then I asked if we have paid electric bills and according to hubby, we settled it every month on the dot without fail...

So, crazy thought ran into my mind. No thanks to watching so much of teeveebee investigation series... In my mind I thought:-

"Hmm, somebody wanted to break into our house. But because this somebody cannot determine a time which is suitable cos hubby dont leave the house to work at a specific time and also comes back to the house as and when he likes (we have a SOHO), so that makes this somebody hard to break in during the day time. Night time impossible cos we are all at home ma.... so, this somebody plotted... make our house black out so no electricity we cannot stay for the night and we have to move out from the house for a night. Hah! This is a good chance for this somebody to break in... night time, nobody in the house..."

Then, I relate to hubby this silly teeveebee mind of mine... and guessed what??!! Hubby agreed with me! Cos its year end now, so understood that it will be higher crime rate. Even though our house is guarded by guards and these guards do their rounds every alternate hours, we cannot take the risk, right? That time was already 10.30pm and where on earth are we to find someone to come to our rescue. I tried calling my reliable technician but his phone is off. *wei what time ah... zzz ledi la* Then hubby called TNB and as usual, "Your call is important to us, pls hold while our customer service bla bla bla bla...." Finally after listening to some pretty ugly music, hubby managed to speak to a human being! Told them our problem and reminded them like several times that we dont owe them anything (cos they asked us like a gazillion times, wei their system cannot check wan meh!). Then they said they'll send somebody over to take a look.

We waited till 11.30pm and nobody came. At that point of time, I have already started to pack our bags cos either we go back to my mom's place or go to my BIL's place (hubby's suggestion) or check into a hotel nearby!!! Yes, I am that desperate! One sleepy son and one very hot and sweaty mommy and one pacing up and down daddy... you get the picture.

Then, our 'friendly' TNB guy came and saw and again asked us for the paid bills blablablabla wasted some time and then finally, they reconnect the fuse and wire... and yippee, we have electricity again, finally at about 1am!!!! Haha, no charge from the TNB guys but hubby gave them some money as a token of appreciation.

Off we went to have our shower, turn on the air-cond and hit the sack... cos we are all dead tired. But, I couldn't sleep well till 4am in the morning cos I was like thinking about the teeveebee movie plot. Crazy or what me so this morning I zzz till 11am. Woooo, time to get up and plan for our lovely long holiday... hehe... hmmm any suggestion where to go?

Weekend Up-date

Well, as usual, must have weekend post... ok one day delay but I was busy ma...

Saturday
Woke up ard 9am did some house chores. Checked my mails and did some work online. Suppose to go shopping with Oscar but last minute, hubby got to send his car for service and he has to use my car for some delivery. Dang! So, have to stay home to rot and praying hard that Annie will rescue me out for lunch. Annie sms-ed me telling me Fearless's not well so cannot come and have makan makan session with me... so I have to think of something to feed my little boy.

* Steam Cod Fist with Mushrooms and peanut and lotus root soup.

After lunch and clean up, I showered Oscar and sweep and mopped the floor and washed the toilets... Yeah, I am like the maid during weekends. Wanted to start ironing but very sleepy so I took a nap with Oscar... zzzz in lala-land...

* Oscar was telling me before nap that his 'friend' is sick. So I have to look for a 'cool fever' to cool his friend off. By the way, his 'friend' in brown is called Omosa... hahahahahah.

Woke up from nap and had tea with biscuits... ah... blissssss... Then its time to think of what to cook for dinner... aiya... no need la, re-heat the soup I made in the afternoon and I had another piece of the cod fish... same recipe... senang sahaja... wow... lots of protein la today... so I made lemon tea to washed it off...(scared body cannot process la)

* Had this after dinner with Oscar also ... so yummy...

Nothing much after dinner, played some puzzles with Oscar and slowly guide him on the Flash Cards I made... He like it but again, he is very playful... Only chooses the alphabets he like which is "H"... !!??

Sunday
Woke up early again today cos I am suppose to go have brunch with my ex-colleagues in MidValley. Again, before I leave home, I have to be Cinderella for few hours ... like wash Oscar's cup and bottles, made breakfast for hubby, put out the washed laundry, put in another load and clean up the kitchen. Suppose to leave at about 10am cos wanted to buy some groceries in Jusco before meeting my colleagues, but this and that and Oscar wanted to tag along sigh.... left house at 11am.....

Wrong move! It was so so jam that I couldn't believe my eyes... Its not even a crawl into the parking but the cars are practically 'parked' on the road cos it so jam towards the building. Called my lunch buddies to tell them I need to go back to take the train instead... and believe me, I take a U-turn back to my house, rang hubby up to ask him to take my car and fetch me to the train station. I couldn't take Oscar along this time and departing with him is really hard cos he keep on telling me he wanted to come along... sorry baby, but mommy is taking public transport so not so convenient ok....

Hah! I am so so right. Took me only 15 mins from my place to MidValley... and I mean inclusive of me buying the train ticket, the wait for the train and walking from the station to the mall... yeah I walked very fast cos sudah late ma... The crowd was crazy!!! Had lunch at Madam Kwan and hmm, I find that their portion shrunk tremendously... what happened ah? After lunch we yak and yak for another hour and I need to go home... Oh... I so wanted to stay and chat with them cos its been a very long time since I meet them. We are meeting up again this Saturday for dinner; pre-X'mas Dinner hehe at my friend's new house.

* Pic not clear cos I took it with my phone... X'mas Deco in MidValley.

I took the train back again and asked hubby to come fetch me... hehe... went home to clean Oscar's toy box. Discard a lot of un-wanted toys and kept away some old toys which he no longer wants to play with anymore. Shower and watched telly with hubby while Oscar nap. We left for Jusco (yes, Jusco kaki la me) in Cheras Selatan.. near Balakong la... wow, nice la this place. Very spacious but the only downfall is the parking; not convenient. Will be improved soon I think. Angeleyes has been to this place twice during her visit here to KL recently and yes, she is so right; very er... erm... aiyah, there are jinjang Joe and jinjang Lians here that comes with their Japanese slippers (I went with SANDALS, not slippers) and shouting from one alley to another.. scary! Bought a toy for Oscar and hubby bought some stuff too... then we had dinner here...

* Food & Tea Restaurant in Jusco Cheras Selatan
* Look at their colourful drinks...

* Their desserts are also very colourful...

* Their banana split is only RM7.80!!! and look at this colourful mango and yam tong sui. Highly recommended!

* We had Black Pepper Udon with Prawns and XO Sauce Fried Rice.

* Lemon Red Tea

* Very environmental friendly X'mas Tree. Made with recycled mineral water bottles.

We went home at about 10pm and get some work done for hubby and zzzz... ah... happy weekend.

Flash Cards

Bought a few sets of flash cards for Oscar last year. Along the year, Oscar learnt quite alot from it. And of course, a lot of it went missing along with other toys! I usually buy cards with pictures and words. I have not bought flash cards with numbers before.

Today, I have decided to do some Home-made FlashCards. Below are the things I bought for this ocassion:

* Some stationery (paper-by-weight cards, glue, some strings, marker pens, scotch tapes and some colour paper. * I made the A-Z and 1-10 via excel format.
* Lots of cutting and sticking the cards toggether.
* Then punch holes and string them together according to their category.

And I am now preparing Oscar for his kindy. Oh... I almost forgot. A quick up-date on my recent hunt for kindy. Thank you all for your valuable suggestions and ideas in looking for a good school. I have found one and without looking further, I paid (no actually hubby paid) the fees and registration stuff etc etc... To me, location is the most important point. There is one school which is very famous and has got a very good teaching method (I went and scrutinse their teaching materials... yes, I am very kiasu) but because from my office to this school, its kind of far. I have to look for a school which is near my office (just in case if Oscar is ill during class or not well or if he just needs me) I can go over ASAP. And have to be near my mom's place cos I intend to steal my lunch time to go over to fetch him after school (Amah, pls pls let me go... I work OT ah...) and then have to quickly rush back and drop Oscar back at my mom's. See, I got lots of things to look into that is why all the delay.

But now, I have no more worry. Er, maybe just one more. Oscar was borned in the year of 2003 therefore, next year he no longer join the nursery class, Oscar is a big boy now so he will have to join the elementary class; which consist of 3 yrs old children and also 4 yrs old children whom for those have already studied one year in nursery. Oh boy, I am so so afraid that my little champion cannot cope cos Oscar is very playful... He learn at his own pace (at home can la, in the school mana boleh) and he tends to be THE OPPOSITION PARTY. Eg: Me asking : Oscar, how old are you? Him: I am fine thank you isk isk isk... hehehaha... OR Me: Oscar, do you want to sit and read? Him: Er, do you want to sit and SING?" See, me pressure or not? And according to the principal, in elementary year, students are expect to know A-Z and 1-20!!!!!! Oscar knows how to SING ABCD but if ask him to recognise the alphabets, I dont think so. Numbers still ok cos Oscar know how to identify 1-10 but not to 20.... The thing I like about this school I enrolled is they practices flash cards a lot and also they use Peter and Jane book as introduction to words and sentences. It is always good and a bonus point to know your A-Z but know A-Z means nothing if you dont know the word...

So, I hope by making these flash cards, I can slowly instill some memorising interest in Oscar rather than him now jumping around in the house and messing around! Like I said, he is very playful and sometimes, he is ok...

I am going to make some basic ones first then later, I am copying some Peter and Jane book I have to let him memorise the words... Many of you will say, buy la from the shelve so much work... but I like doing it myself.... more MOMMY TOUCH... hehe

Oscar, pls pls be good and play and read yr flash cards mommy made....

Still Looking Around....

I am so so dead! Why? Cos its now mid December 2006 and I AM STILL LOOKING AROUND for Kindy for Oscar. I know I know, by now, all kindergartens are full and if Oscar wants to go to school... they'll probably squeeze him in somewhere...

Seriously, I dont want to simply 'drop-off' Oscar in some anonymous school or in some 'branded' school. I am so so doom-ded! I have been looking around and I have more or less confirmed a school but still hesitate to go and pay the deposit and registration fees.

Me, hubby and Oscar went to look for another school last Sunday. According to the principal, the kindy has been operating for almost 10 years. Wow, I was amazed as the principal herself is a retired primary school teacher, so I thought she would have a lot of experience... As we talked (hubby brought Oscar to look around the school), I slowly noticed the below:-

1) This principal just took over this school. She retired early this year and took over the position in this kindy to be a principal. The owner of this kindy runs another kindy somewhere so she (the owner) doesn't come to this branch.

2) The kindy does not practices any learning system : Montessori, Flip-Tech, Bi-lingual, KBSR etc etc... When I asked the principal.. she looked at me and blink blink her eyes as if I am asking her if she is married or not!!! Then, I explained myself then only she told me they dont really practice any system. Aikes! Like that how can? But I glanced at some of their teaching materials... I can sort of sum up its KBSR.

3) The class room is very very small. For Oscar's age, its standard that each classroom must be roomy for them (the children) to move around and clean. The classrooms in this school looks a little bit dim/dark for a day time and the walls are all smudged (with what I dont know) and all scribbles scribbles....hmmm, the tables and chairs are all squeaky and loose screws and the corner of the tables are all chipped! From outside, the school building looks very nice and new (I think they painted the building). Worst of all, the principal brought me into the classroom meant for Oscar's age, it smelt like vomit! I knew I am exaggerating but how can a classroom smells so awful even its like the school breaks for holiday for a few weeks already! Not hygienic at all....

4) Went to see the toilet.. yucky yucky too... went to look at the pantry they prepare food for snacks... yucks yucks too. I asked what do they serve for snacks; I guess all schools serves the same food (biscuits with herbal tea, porridge, mihun, sandwiches, red bean?!, pancakes). I enquired a few kindy and they serve almost the same thing...

5) Last but not least... the principal has got nose-hair sticking out from her nose!!!! Freaky!!! I couldn't help but to keep on staring into her nose's direction!!! Aikes!!!

So? What must I do now? I think I will go back to the very first school I went. Grrr... this school is only opened from morning 10am to afternoon 2pm on weekdays only. Hmm, where do I find the time for this...I think I take 2hrs off tomorrow morning; since my colleague can now help to run the show I mean the office... I must get this done if not my poor little Oscar will have to stay at home to rot er no, do nothing I mean. Oscar like going to school cos every time we bring him to open day in kindys... he'll enjoy every moment of it... Darling, pls wait ok, mommy will do it by this week.... I love you Oscar.

Do you believe in Tarot Cards?

Was Reading Hui Sia's Blog and stumbled accross a quiz some sort she did... I opened up the link and this is what I got... hmmm so er... me?

You are The Lovers

Motive, power, and action, arising from Inspiration and Impulse.

The Lovers represents intuition and inspiration. Very often a choice needs to be made.

Originally, this card was called just LOVE. And that's actually more apt than "Lovers." Love follows in this sequence of growth and maturity. And, coming after the Emperor, who is about control, it is a radical change in perspective. LOVE is a force that makes you choose and decide for reasons you often can't understand; it makes you surrender control to a higher power. And that is what this card is all about. Finding something or someone who is so much a part of yourself, so perfectly attuned to you and you to them, that you cannot, dare not resist. This card indicates that the you have or will come across a person, career, challenge or thing that you will fall in love with. You will know instinctively that you must have this, even if it means diverging from your chosen path. No matter the difficulties, without it you will never be complete.

What Tarot Card are You?
Take the Test to Find Out.

FxFoto

Heard alot about scrap-booking lately and wanted to try my hands on it for a long time... Thanks to FxFoto, I tried this tonight.... phew, took me some time to figure some of the commands.. hope you like it... will do more if I have the time...

My Hori-Gi-Ble Neighbour!

I have nice and not so nice neighbours that surrounds me daily. I once post about a neighbour that makes squeaky sounds with their daughter's 'sarong'... Really beh-tahan but luckily they moved out and the neighbour that moved in are the silent type.

Then, I have very very nice neighbours too. So nice, that they bring food over to us and once they brought me durians! Aikes, me anti-durian... so anti that when I was staying with my parents, I have to go out whenever I knew my dad is buying durians home... Yeah... I am very extreme when it comes to durians... eeeee *shivers* Oh.. yea, they bring durians to my doorstep and 'Ding Dong'.. when I came to the door, I almost fainted when I saw the fruit. I didn't want the fruit in my house so I rejected altogether... made up some really stupid excuse... I AM ALLERGIC TO DURIANS!.. Really stupid hor... Then, this very same neighbour always brings us food (cannot always reject like 7 out of 10 times we reject the other 3 times are dried food like crackers or biscuits we take la...) They are really nice not because they bring us food but they are genuine nice people..

Then, came the horigible ones! There is this lady that I cannot tahan... so so cannot tahan that I have to blog about her. She live few doors away from my apartment and she lived with her so ever 'lembik' hubby and a (I must admit) very cute daughter... hmmm where this little girl got her genes from cos the mommy looked like one 'crazy chicken' and the daddy looked like ok la a decent man la... Why I said the mommy looked like a 'crazy chicken' is her hair is full time not in good order.. messy! I mean, if you have frizzy hair do something about it ler!

Ok, why she irritates me the most. There was once me and hubby were waiting for the lift to come and hubby have had his hands full and me too my hands are carrying bags.. That lady mia hubby went into the lift after us and his hands was EMPTY.. not carrying anything! Logically the hubby must press the 'open' button in the lift right? Even tho' I am the one standing closest to the panel but my hands are full ma and her hubby is just standing next to me... he could have easily streached out his damn heavy hands to press the button to hold onto the door for his ugly looking wife to get in with their daughter right? Agree with me or not here??!! But!!!! He didnt! So the door closed when she is entering half way and sort of 'ter' BANG the daughter's head! Cried la the daughter... then this lady gave me a look like 'Why didnt you press the button!' Me like giving her back my look 'Me where got hand your hubby didnt press for you so dont give me that look!!!"

Ever since that incident, I never want to be in the same lift as her. Then, came recently I have to get into the very same lift with her after work and after drenching myself and Oscar wet from the rain cos we parked like so so so far! She was the second last to enter the lift. There was only 4 person add me 5... the lift can accommodate 8 - 10 person. Either her butt is really big or what, she refuse to budge from the front door! She was again standing right in-front of the door carrying her daughter! If she moved in a few cm.. me and Oscar would be able to get into the lift... Then I told her sternly in a very calm but angry tone! 'Excuse me!!'... She still didnt move a bit... I just pushed her to go to the back cos I really want to get into the lift and I reeeeeeaaalllly want to make her feel dumb!

Ok, enough ranting ... this blog is suppose to be a family blog and a blog for Oscar ...

Another food post

Food... ah.. my passion. Know how to eat must also know how to make... hehe. I made this for dinner on Thursday night.

Crispy Fish with Tamarind and Tomato Sauce. Got this recipe from a friend of mine but she made it nicer... mine abit sourish... too much tamarind sauce i think... Dont ask me to post recipe cos i cin cai taruk so no measurement wan...

* Deep fried fish and sauce for dipping.
* Tamarind and tomato sauce mixed with shallots and mango.
* Oscar looked like as if I am feeding him poison!
* Ok, happy already cos I bribed him with Yakult!

Dinner time can be very fun everyday especially if we cook the food we like and present new recipes for our loved ones... In this case, hubby didn't get to enjoy it piping hot cos he came home late and I ate dinner without him... Next recipe.. Beer Fish Fillet... haha.. stay tune ok.

My belated weekend post

My previous weekend was very well spent.

Saturday.

Went to Kieran's Birthday Party. Before arriving at the venue, I went to pick up Angeleyes and Darrius. And guess what?! I lost my way and ended up in some pretty remote area and the road are extra 'slim'... I have to close both my side mirrors to pass thru.. Aikes! Better not venture further in cos who knows what I might bumped into. Called Angeleyes to meet me at the maid road. "Sorry Angeleyes... me no good with road wan la". Then we head to the party together. Wow! We were surprised by the amount of people. You get the idea when you read LaundryAmah's post... I dropped off Oscar and Angeleyes in front of the venue and asked LaundryAmah to pick them up there... Then I went to look for a parking. I parked so far until I lupa my way back to the venue... Haha..

It wa a success party as the kids all enjoyed themselves. I didn't bring my camera (darn!) so no photo on this. Oscar ate a whole packet full of fries on his own (which I will never allow on normal days) and drank 3-cups of Ribena!!! Well, party ma, sure like that la. Then the sky turned dark, we headed to our next destination. Said our byes and left.

Sunday.

Woke up extra early today cos today we are planning to go shopping and buy our X'mas Tree. We went to 1-Utama and when we reached, it only 11am but we can already see the crowd. Had lunch at our fav spot. Then, while we are enjoying our meal, the waiter can to serve the table next to us, bumped our table and 'shifted' our table and almost caused our drinks to fell! He apologised but hubby was mad claiming that what if he (the waiter) was holding some hot soup or drink, he might hurt Oscar as he was at Oscar's side.. sigh...

Then we went around buying some work clothes for hubby and yeah... the X'mas tree. We didnt want to get a huge one cos our house is very small. So, we just bought a 4 ft tree with the ornaments and ding ding dang dang... wow, not cheap la... hmm I wonder the huge tree in my cousin's place cost how much with the deco and all...

Ok, that's if for our weekend. Once again, looking forward to it again.
